There’s lots happening at “Emerge”…

It’s been a busy month for Emerge, the LGBT Employee Resource Group at Viacom International Media Networks. Emerge Steering Group Leader Erik Tomlin gives us an update on what the group have been up to.

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) celebrated LGBT History Month in February with a poster campaign based on the 2018 Theme: “Geography: Mapping The World”. We invited Tris Reid-Smith, Director and Editor-in-Chief of Gay Star News, to give a talk about the ins-and-outs of many travel destinations from an LGBT perspective.

We also hosted a lunchtime chat with Georgia Arnold, Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility for VIMN/Executive Director, MTV Staying Alive Foundation, alongside, Abi Ogunmwonyi, Grants Manager of MTV Staying Alive, to hear all about the LGBT youth led projects that they support globally, how they depict LGBT related issues in MTV Shuga, as well as plans for their 20th Anniversary.

In March, Emerge supported International Women’s Day by profiling some lesser known LBT women who have contributed hugely to the LGBT rights movement and hosted the InterMediaUK International Women’s Day “Speak “Up” Panel event with over 70 attendees.
