From the very beginning, people who came to InterMediaUK wanted not only to have a place to network and meet contacts doing similar work, but also to look at LGBT portrayal across media – both onscreen, online and on air, and in the workforce.
The events and online presence of InterMediaUK have grown and we are now guided by a voluntary Steering Group. Find out a little more about who we are below.
Edelman | HR Operations Manager

Jonni joined the InterMediaUK team in October 2015 and currently chairs Out@Edelman, the UK division of the global company LGBT network group. He previously worked for Channel 4 where he implemented their 4Pride network. He champions concerns and influences business change and is a strong advocate for the advantages of having LGBT diversity within the workplace. He acts as a mentor and adviser to other industry professionals on how to improve LGBT diversity in their own company. He’s a proud northerner with experience of working within charity and corporate organisations and thrives on making positive change within the media industry and beyond.

Alasdair has worked in a range of broadcast advertising and media planning roles at ITV, BBC, Sky and now UKTV. He first got involved with InterMediaUK at Sky through the LGBT@sky network, but remained on the Steering Group when he moved roles and now represents UKTV. Alasdair is a keen diversity advocate and believes that embracing authenticity is the key for businesses that want to create better work environments and better work.

Matt joined the InterMediaUK team in May 2015 and is Chair of ITV Pride, ITV’s internal LGBT network group. Matt brings an incredible energy and passion to championing LGBT awareness and does this on top of running the award winning creative and events department at ITV. He is a brilliant diversity ambassador.

Mark came on board with InterMediaUK in 2015 when he helped coordinate the group’s first joint Pride in London entry. With a background looking after internal communications programmes in the public and private sector, he is currently responsible for employee engagement for Sky’s new campus in West London, as well as running the company’s LGBT employee network. He’s a northerner in London. And unlike Girls Aloud, he can speak French.

Georgina joined InterMediaUK in 2015 and is a Co-Chair of ITV Pride, she is currently responsible for leading the Commercial Marketing team at ITV, before that, she worked at Universal Music in product marketing and has previous experience working within the charity sector. She is a keen diversity advocate with a particular passion for better representation of LGBT in media both on and off screen, she believes creating awareness and embracing authenticity is key to making positive change in our industry.

Iain joined InterMediaUK in late 2015 after giving a presentation to the group. Iain’s background is in brand marketing, spending the formative years of his career at Procter and Gamble in Geneva. With his current role of Product Marketing Manager at Google, Iain gives a great link to the technology and gaming world. In addition, Iain spends his spare time leading the annual marketing campaign for Pride in London as their Deputy Marketing Director. Iain is passionate about raising the profile of the LGBT community and the work of InterMediaUK.

Matt joined InterMediaUK in April 2015 as part of the Pride in London planning team. He is co-chair of BBC Pride, the BBC’s internal staff network group for LGBT employees. Coming from a technical background, Matt has previously worked as a specialist network engineer in the higher education sector. Having joined the BBC in 2013 he now leads the development team that builds the CBBC and CBeebies websites. In his spare time Matt enjoys swimming, having recently conquered his life-long fear of the water. He can often be found drinking too much coffee and likes nothing more than a night out at the theatre.

Karen joined the steering committee in late 2015. She is the co-chair of BBC Pride and is based in Manchester. With a background producing online content, Karen is currently working for BBC Bitesize producing interactive resources for primary-age schoolchildren. Originally from the Wirral, when she isn’t working Karen enjoys watching her beloved LFC, working on her home and spending far too many hours on Netflix.

Erik joined InterMediaUK in 2013 and is a steering group leader of Emerge, the LGBT employee resource group for Viacom. He has worked in Music & Media Licensing for MTV for nine years, and before that was in synch licensing for a music publisher in New York. Erik is also passionate about music and plays in several classical and jazz music groups.
OUT London Committee Member
Natasha joined InterMediaUK in December 2016 and is on the committee for the NBCUniversal employee LGBT+ resource group, OUT London. In her day job, she works in digital research for NBCUniversal film and television. She is a passionate advocate for the fair representation of LGBT+ women in the workplace and beyond.
Nick is Director of Creative Social Change Company GEEYOU. Specialising in using commonalities in media and the arts to benefit communities, he’s tasked with drawing Media and Theatre closer together for InterMediaUK. Nick also works freelance as a lecturer, writer and director and is part of the delivery
team for the annual Olivier Awards.
BBC, Senior Product Manager
Caz is a Senior Product Manager at the BBC, leading a small team that makes a suite of websites for staff. Working with the BBC Pride committee led to her involvement with InterMediaUK, and she has been on the Steering Committee since the beginning of 2016. She is part of the team running the mentoring scheme. Caz is always busy, and does writing and graphic design on the side. When she isn’t doing any freelance editorial or design work, she loves to spend an afternoon crafting, or getting lost in the cafes of East London.
GroupM – Co-Chair PrideM
Alys joined the InterMedia committee in 2016 and is Co-Chair of PrideM, GroupM’s LGBT+ employee group. With a background in digital advertising, she is currently Head of Business Process for Xaxis UK and Pan-Regional teams, and previously worked at Google in paid search. Alys is a keen advocate for LGBT+ representation in media and believes both businesses and employees win when they embrace diversity. She is most likely to be found with a cup of tea in hand!

Jon joined InterMediaUK in 2017 after setting up a network group called Sports Media LGBT+, for all those across that part of the industry and related roles who are LGBT, and for allies too. In his day job, he curates digital content for the Sky Sports estate – web, apps and Sky Q set-top boxes – leads a team of sub-editors, and also co-ordinates the company’s support for Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign, of which they are one of several TeamPride partners. He’s passionate about making sport more inclusive, and he can be often found at the theatre, cinema or sometimes – in a departure from culture and entertainment – watching Plymouth Argyle.

Joff has worked across a range of Broadcasters in Commissioning and Exec roles at BBC Three, BBCW and UKTV but has spent the majority of his career in the Independent sector as a producer at Lion TV, Mentorn Media, betty and his own production Company Broad Bean Media. He joined the InterMediaUK team at the end of 2015 and works with a number of LGBT+ groups across media and the social change landscape, including AKT, THT and Stonewall. Joff champions the visibility of LGBT+ people on and off screen and works tirelessly to develop emerging talent within media.
